Why does the theatre need to be renovated?

The performance space currently has sightline and acoustic issues, and the lobby does not provide sufficient space or seating for our patrons. By renovating the lobby and theatre, we will upgrade sightlines and acoustics, enhance audience comfort, improve the actor-audience relationship, and boost our technical capacity backstage.

When is the theatre under construction?

The theatre renovations will begin in January 2019 and are scheduled to be completed in time for the first production of our 2019-2020 Season.

What happens when the theatre is under construction?

The first three shows of the 2018-2019 Season will be at Round House in Bethesda. Construction will begin in January 2019. At that time, the theatre will be closed and the last two shows of our 2018-2019 Season, Oslo and A Doll’s House, Part 2, will be produced at the Lansburgh Theatre in Washington, DC.

What will happen to subscribers?

Subscribers will be given comparable seats at the Lansburgh Theatre and will be able to exchange at any time to change seats or dates. We are working on parking options and subscribers will be notified this summer.

After the renovation has been completed, subscribers will be assigned comparable seats in the new theatre for the 2019-2020 Season. They will have the opportunity to visit the new theatre before the first show to try out and confirm their subscription seat selection.
