Round House Theatre is a home for outstanding ensemble acting and lifelong learning. We seek to captivate audiences with stories that inspire compassion, evoke emotions, and demand conversation.
Round House seeks to build one of the nation’s leading regional theatres by establishing long-term relationships with exceptional artists, and to integrate comprehensive theatre education for patrons of all ages into every aspect of our work.
Round House Theatre began life as a group of actors and educators committed to placing great acting and theatre education at the center of their company. These values define Round House, and they form the foundation on which we are building an artistic institution with national clout.
In a Washington Post article announcing our 2017-2018 Season, Peter Marks noted that Round House possesses “an aspiration to maximize impact on theatergoers’ consciousness.” It’s time to expand that impact, making Round House a driving force in American theatre.
It’s an ambitious goal, yet an attainable one. The steps we must take are clear, and each one builds on our core principles of ensemble acting and lifelong learning. We look to raise $14 million to nurture new plays and artists; construct a more versatile theatre with a welcoming lobby; train the next generation of theatre artists, audiences, and administrators; and ground these initiatives in a foundation of financial security.
